Welcome to the Farm

About MJ Heritage

We are a husband and wife team with an extensive background in fine dining. Working for Michelin level chefs has given us perspective on how chefs at such a high level source ingredients for their cuisine. It all starts with delicious and fresh ingredients. In our experience we’ve learned that delicious equals nutrient dense which means starting with the soil. The soil is a living & evolving thing, and the more life that is contained within, the more layers and complexity of flavors that come from things grown on that soil.

Bridging the Gap

Josh & Mary created MJ Heritage Farms to be able to bridge the gap between Chefs & Farmers. Often farmers are able to raise or grow something amazing but don’t know how or what to make with it, or to be able to utilize everything. On the flip side, Chefs know how to make something absolutely delicious and utilize every part but have no clue how to raise or grow the things they are cooking. At MJ we are both chefs and farmers and have intension with everything that we do on the farm, from raising our animals with the utmost care and humane practices to wasting nothing so that we honor the relationship between farm animal and the farmer.

Our Community

We sometimes joke around when we say that we live in a place where most people vacation, but there’s truth to it. The Napa Valley is such a unique and beautiful place. We feel that the community of the Napa Valley is one of the contributing factors of why it’s so special. It’s a community of farmers, chefs, winemakers, artists, and crafts people to name just a few. Over the last decade the Napa Valley community has been put to the test with multiple wildfires, earth quakes, and a pandemic, and have come out of it stronger than ever. Being there for your neighbor is something that we at MJ really believe in!

Pup Patrol

  • Kyrie & Lola

Kyrie & Lola - Kyrie and Lola are our OG dogs on the farm. Kyrie came from Charlotte, NC with Mary and has become the mentor of our pack. We adopted Lola as a gift for Josh and she has become the ultimate farm dog and Josh’s shadow.

  • Blanche & Dottie

Blanche & Dottie - Blanche and Dottie came to us in a time of need for the farm.

After the 2020 fires in Napa the coyote population had lost their home and had come onto our property and were threatening our chicken population so we decided to fight nature with nature and got two Great Pyrenees puppies as our livestock guardian dogs. Since getting the pups we have seen a great decrease in the amount of coyotes that try to come on property.

  • Stanley & Sophia

Stanley & Sophia - Josh and Mary were looking for a stud to be able to breed Blanche and Dottie with to be able to grow our pack. They luckily found Mr. Stanley but his sister also stole our hearts so we ended up taking home both of them. They are learning their job from Blanche and Dottie and are already helping protect the farm.
